How to open various cans? Rubber bands, plastic wrap, sandpaper... I never thought these could be used to open cans!
Canned goods with an extra-long shelf life
Not only are they the first choice for stocking up on food,
but they are also a source of joy for many friends!
However, what if you can't open these jars and cans?
What to do!!
These can-opening tips are a must-have↓
Friction Method
Besides using a knife to cut open cans without pull tabs, you can also do this without tools:
Step 1: Find the top of the can and place it upside down on a piece of sandpaper.
Step 2: Rub the top of the can back and forth on the sandpaper.
Step 3: Wipe the top of the can clean with a paper towel.
Step 4: Hold the can with both hands and squeeze hard, and the can will open easily.
If you are outdoors, you can rub it directly on a rough brick.
When encountering common glass jars,
there are even more methods you can use↓
Tape Peel Method
Stick the tape to the lid, wrap it around half a circle, and pull hard, and the lid will open.
Warm Water Soak Method
Step 1: Invert the can into a basin filled with warm water and wait for a dozen seconds.
Step 2: Take the can out of the water, and it will open with a twist.
Pry Open Method
There is a small recessed area on the edge of each can lid. Use a stainless steel spoon, scissors, or fruit knife to insert it into the gap between the lid and the body of the can from the edge of the recess, and you can pry it open with a little force.
This is because the air pressure inside and outside the can is balanced due to the small gap created by prying. However, it should be noted that prying open cans does cause some wear and tear on the knife tip.
Knock Open Method
Hold the can and tap the edge of the lid against a hard surface (such as a cutting board) a few times to cause a slight deformation of the metal lid, so that the airtight environment inside the can is broken and the air pressure is balanced, making it easier to twist open.
However, this method is only suitable for cans with the same diameter at the top and bottom. If the can has a waist, there is a risk of breaking the waist. Also, do not use too much force when tapping the can. If the lid is excessively deformed, it will not be able to be tightened later.
Patting Method
Pick up the can, hold the bottom of the can facing yourself, and then use the palm of your other hand to hit the bottom of the can hard several times, and then it can be twisted open.
Increase Friction Method
You can put a few rubber bands, a rubber glove, or a layer of plastic wrap on the can lid to increase the friction when twisting the can, so that your hands won't slip and you can exert more force.
Hair Dryer Method
Use a hair dryer to blow hot air evenly back and forth on the can lid for a while, blowing all around the lid, and it can be twisted open.
