Setting sail from a can: Exploring Suining's foreign trade market expansion
On April 20th, in Suining High-tech Zone, trucks loaded with canned meat successively drove out of the Sichuan Meining Food Co., Ltd. factory.
A set of data from the Suining Municipal Bureau of Commerce shows that there are 6 enterprises in the city, including Meining Food, Gaoxin Food, and Piaoxiang Yuanda, that export canned meat. Last year, Suining's canned meat export value reached 150 million yuan, ranking first in the province, of which Meining Food's export value accounted for more than 30%, making it the largest exporter of canned meat in Suining.
Recently, Meining Food's export team has held multiple meetings with Suining Customs to accelerate registration and备案 in South Africa.
Meining Food is not the only company actively exploring overseas markets. In 2024, Suining's total import and export volume was 4.29 billion yuan, of which 92 productive foreign trade enterprises accounted for 73.1% of the import and export volume. Since the beginning of this year, China's export market has faced severe and complex external shocks. Suining City, together with relevant enterprises, has taken multiple measures to find breakthroughs.
On one hand, Suining is accelerating the formulation and implementation of foreign trade incentive measures to guide foreign trade enterprises to reduce costs and increase efficiency, transform and upgrade, and effectively enhance their endogenous动力 to cope with external shocks. Xiang Li, head of the Foreign Economic and Trade Section of the Suining Municipal Bureau of Commerce, introduced that Suining plans to organize canning enterprises to Southeast Asia for economic and trade matchmaking activities this year. Meining Food is also preparing to participate in several food exhibitions held in Turkey, Indonesia, and other places in the second half of the year, taking the opportunity to inspect new markets and meet new customers.
At the same time, Suining also effectively promotes the domestic sale of high-quality foreign trade products by holding foreign trade and domestic sales matchmaking meetings, organizing high-quality foreign trade products to enter shopping malls, supermarkets, pedestrian streets, and key business districts, setting up special zones (counters) for exhibition and sales; supporting foreign trade enterprises to open online stores on important platforms such as JD.com, helping foreign trade enterprises develop the domestic market.
